Omkareshwara Temple was built in 1820 by King Lingarajendra II in the 18th century. Legends say that a certain Brahmin was killed by the king for his political ambitions. However, this deed shook his conscience and he started getting nightmares. As a sign of repentance, he built a Shiva Temple and the Shiva lingam was brought from the holy town of Kashi. The Gothic and Islamic architecture of this temple can mislead you to believe the structure as a Muslim dargah.   The tomb of Gaddige built is Indo-Saracenic style is a popular attraction with a historical connotation.
