For those who are looking to trek near Mysore at locations close to around 100 km, we've got just the places!

1. Mullayanagiri

Being the highest peak in Karnataka, Mullayanagiri is the ultimate place to trek. If you’re a massive fan of cloud blankets and plant overgrowth, head to this hill to experience peace in a tranquilizing manner! These hills offer a breathtaking view of the horizon unlike nowhere else which is why you need to reach the summit before sunset.

The trekking trail is truly amazing as you will not only get the adrenaline rush but also enjoy the scenic beauty that Mullayanagiri is! The entire trekking trail is 4 kilometer and if walking is not your thing, you can partake in mountain biking as well!

After reaching this foot of the hill, you can park your vehicle and either set out on the trek or get your own bike to ascend the hill - both are fantastic ways to explore the beautiful Western Ghats. The closest town to Mullayanagiri is Chikmagalur so you can stop by this quaint little town to refill yourself with some food and liquids!

There is a Shiva temple at the peak top and also a Nandi statues on your to the top which you can visit.

2. Baba Budangiri

The trekking trail between Mullayanagiri and Baba Budangiri is the one you should target if you’re looking to trek in the region because it’s easily the most picturesque trail ever! The trail forms a crescent shape if viewed from the top.

The three caves at Budangiri truly exemplify what a cave should look like so make sure you visit it anyhow! Close to Attigundi are three beautiful waterfalls which you need to visit too. Not that we’re increasing the number of places you need to see but this place as such is a bowl of all things nature and nice.

There is also a lake called Galikere that is the ultimate drop-and-relax kind of place and enjoy the serenity as the sun sets. For photographers, this is an amazing place to do portrait photography, as well as landscape photography like that, was not implied!

3. Shivanasamudra Waterfalls

Now, hold on. A waterfall may not sound like a trekking place but Shivanasamudra is going to change the way you look at things! Situated amidst the amidst the dense green landscape of the Mandya district of Karnataka, this is the ultimate place to let loose and take a dip.

Flowing as a river throughout the village of Shivanasamudra, the waterfall offers one of the most pristine viewpoints nature has to offer. The group of ancient temples in the surrounding village is also a magnet to spiritual energy seekers from across the entire country.

The best part about these waterfalls is that it splits the Kaveri river into two twin waterfalls! How cool is that? Visit this nature’s nest and enjoy this retreat to the fullest!

4. MM Hills

The Male Mahadeshwara Hills in the Chamarajanagar district of southern Karnataka that boasts of gorgeous scenery and a fresh atmosphere that will surely leave you in a trance. The path to the summit of the hill is paved with stones and well structured enough to have a safe yet picturesque trek with your friends!

Once you reach the absolute the top, remember to thank us! It’s a view to kill for. Near to these hills is the infamous Antargange stream where a huge number of pilgrims visit to wash off their sins as we even speak. You can take a dip here too if you want to.

Sounds like fun, right? You will also come across a wide variety of animals and bird species that you can observe from a distance. Elephants are quite common in the area so gear up!

5. Biligirirangana Hills

Often called as B.R. Hills, this area is surrounded by a wildlife sanctuary. If this doesn’t entice you to trek up this hill, then we need to change how few things work around here! There’s a Biligirirangana Swamy Temple in the vicinity as you go trekking along the hill that is frequented by loads of people all around the year.

The coolest feature of this region is that it forms the confluence of the Eastern and Western Ghats, and is home to uncountable species of animals and birds that you wouldn’t have come across in your daily life. The summit of the hills overlook the horizon and this looks so beautiful that you won’t ever feel like trekking downwards at all!

While ascending the hill, visit the Swamy temple too! It’s a really well-crafted temple in all.
