Types of travellers you'll always meet
Invalid Date | By ONN Bikes
You'll meet all kinds of people during your travel and they always seem to leave a little something behind.
Vagabond for life
These kinds of travellers leave everything behind to explore the world. You'd always feel so jealous that they get to travel all the time but little do you know about all the hurdles they go through while travelling. Living in a luxurious hotel is out of the list too.
They worship everything a local has to say about the place and learn their language as quick as it can get. If you have to learn how to communicate, always go to a vagabond traveller. There's a high chance that they have more friends on the planet than you can ever imagine making!
Also, they make wonderful storytellers for those rainy, gloomy nights with friends. If you know a vagabond traveller dost, stay in touch more than often! Learning something from them could always come in handy.
Listmaker
You can easily spot these kinds of travellers by just looking if they have a pile of sticky notes stashed tightly in between a journal, which they'll be holding in their hand all the time. A list maker is not someone you can go messing around with.
They write everything about the place and especially all the places they need to visit before leaving. The lists have sub-lists and those sub-lists have sub-lists. It becomes even more insane every time you try to understand it.These kinds of travellers are on a mission and won't stop at anything before hitting every stop on that list!
So if you want to see every spot in the place you're visiting, cling onto the list maker and you won't be disappointed about missing out on anything!
YOLO
These kinds of travellers have the most chill plans of all. Heck, they don't even have a life. They make spontaneous decisions and get going before dawn. They have a deep desire to do every dangerous thing in the world just because their motto is 'You live only once'.
You will most probably see them forcing their friends to do the same. Jumping off a cliff, river rafting, trekking towards the Everest summit, walking over a weak suspended bridge and everything else that screams danger.
YOLO travellers have the strongest of hearts and will always push you to be the best, overachieving version of yourself.
Over-packer
There's always that one person who carries around a suitcase that's bigger than them! For a weekend trip, they'd carry more than five sets of clothes when they only need two!
The bright side is that they're always ready for any plan change because they're most probably carrying every kind of apparel. If you ask them a bit politely, they will be ready to share with you too.
So having an over packer around you is definitely an added advantage. And, if there happens to be an apocalypse, get ready to be saved by the over-packer because he's most likely to be carrying a space gun and a rocket too!
Under-packer
If there exists an over packer, science says there has to be an under packer to maintain the balance. If you see someone in a group who are carrying a really small bag or nothing, in most cases, you've found the under-packer!
These kinds of travellers feed on the over-packers and somehow everything just works out in the end. Even though the memo clearly stated that it's going to get really chilly, they are still going to get what they feel like.
But that's okay. Under-packers are real-life saviours in certain situations because of their ever sustaining improvised solution to absolutely anything.
Souvenir collector
A group of travellers is incomplete without this specific kind of a traveller. A souvenir collector spends all of his money on fridge magnets, chocolates and things that he'll never use in his life. There won't be any space to breathe in his bag because of all the small trinkets and key chains of all sorts!
They think about everyone in their lives whom they owe a souvenir to. That list would literally never end until they actually run out of money.
The best about these collectors is that they have the ability to visit every souvenir shop on the road and find the best loots! So stick to these guys if you want to find insane deals on souvenirs!
Freebie hoarder
A freebie hoarder is someone who doesn't need an introduction. Did anyone say free breakfast at the hotel? Run towards the mess before they pack their entire suitcase with your breakfast!
These kinds of travellers are always on the lookout of making the best out of anything that involves paying. And, that's exactly what you should learn from them. Being a freebie hoarder doesn't make you a bad person and you shouldn't be ashamed of it either.
If you see someone being a freebie hoarder, don't hiss at them! There's a difference between spending wisely and spending too much. Know the difference and seize every opportunity that is thrown at you.
Instagrammer
Well, if you don't take a million photos while travelling, then what are you doing? This is the motto of Instagrammer kind of traveller! They document every single detail of their trip and want everyone to know how they are doing.
From the breakfast menu to how they are travelling, to which street they are in and everything in between - they have pictures of absolutely everything. In a way, it is a great thing to do!
You might be complaining that you ought to travel more than them since all they do is make everyone jealous. Think of it as a way to track them in case they (touch wood) get kidnapped during their travels. Feel better?
Explorer
Now, these kind of travellers are the best kinds. They have a genuine thirst to find out about the history, culture and local food about the place they're visiting. You can see them having a messed up hairstyle, muddy shoes, a huge trekking bag, and a great portable Wi-fi, all set up with them!
Explorers have the juiciest stories to tell and amazing photographs to show you in their worn out DSLRs. If you see someone walking around asking for directions using a local paper map, you've found the guy!
He's our explorer! These guys know what they're doing and have probably written a book on all their travels. If they let you read it, kudos! Get inspired and to be an explorer!
Local translator
Now, these guys are really rare to locate. A local translator is someone who gets along with anyone, anywhere. They want to live off the radar and eat food that everyone eats in that place.
Experiencing something local is so rejuvenating - that's something that you can learn from the local translator. They even know most of the languages from around the country or even the globe.
You'd see them wearing what the locals wear so they're not hard to notice. A local translator makes a wonderful friend so go say hi and learn something about the place, without any internet or any fancy shoes!
