#2 Hawa Mahal

Close to the City Palace, this Hawa Mahal was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh the grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh in the heart of Jaipur. It is another significant palace to visit for sightseeing when you are in Jaipur for a day. It was built in 1799. It’s a five-story building built in a pyramidal shape, which is a symbolic replica of the Hindu god, lord Krishna’s crown. It is a combination of Mughal and Rajput architecture and has 953 windows which are called 'jharokas'. These jharokas were built in such a way that they allowed the royal women to view the outside world and the people outside were unable to view them. It is designed in the shape of Honeycomb.
